A LITERARY JOURNEY TO THE ARMY COMMANDER’S RESIDENCE: MY TICKET TO INSPIRAITON / MOKSHADA CHOUDHARY

In the realm of literary pursuits, unexpected adventures often await. Recently, I found myself on an extraordinary journey.  It all began with when I was awared the best book published in youth category award during Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Literature Festival in Pune on 23rd November, 2023.

As the days passed and the excitement settled, I was surprised once more. An invitation arrived, inviting me to meet the Army Commander (Cheif of army in southern command) . Confusion mingled with curiosity as I pondered the connection between my literary achievement and this letter. When I starting reading it, I was amazed to know that the awaredee gets invited to the Army Commander’s Residence for an interaction over tea, it was an wonderful protocol to be followed. Nevertheless, fueled by a sense of adventure, I accepted the invitation, eager to explore this unexpected opportunity.

The day of the meeting arrived. On a crisp Feburary evening and I found myself standing before the gates of his house which was a living heritage assest!  Guided by a sense of anticipation, I entered the compound, greeted by the sight of disciplined soldiers engaged in their duties. Amidst the organized chaos, I couldn’t help but marvel at the dedication and unity exhibited by these individuals.

Escorted through the corridors adorned with symbols of valor and sacrifice, I finally arrived at the Commander’s garden where he was sitting. Stepping in front of him, I was met with the warmest smiles and a firm handshake from the  distinguished figure, the Army Commander Lieutenant General Ajai Kumar Singh AVSM, YSM, SM and VSM and alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA) Pune and Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun.

As we engaged in conversation, I soon realized the purpose behind this unexpected meeting. The Army Commander, a connoisseur of literature himself being so humble and invitng, had taken a keen interest in my work. He spoke of the power of words to inspire, to instill courage, and to unite. We even discussed about the possibility that I can host my painting exhibition in one of the army institutes.

Our discussion transcended the boundaries of our respective domains, I talked about my social works, economic articles, research studies and my sport Fencing! Plus, I also presented my books to him! It was a mesmerising moment for me. Weaving together narratives of courage, resilience, and human triumph I found myself immersed in a dialogue that surpassed mere formalities, forging a connection rooted in mutual respect and admiration.

As I bid farewell to the Army Commander and departed from the military base, I carried with me more than just memories of an extraordinary encounter. He presented me with some beoynd the world gifts! He gifted me Gold Nib Pen which was used by our former late Prime Minsiter Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, I was legit awestruck seeing the pen. He also gifted me a Rudraksh Mala (Rudraksh refers to the dries stones of the genus Elaeocarpus. These stones serve as prayer beads for Hindus) with that a abridged version of the holy book Gita!

In the end, I emerged not only with a ticket to meet the Army Commander but with a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of diverse worlds and the transformative power of human connection and got to know how a senoir general in the armed force thinks!
